1.What is the education of the teachers at Direct English?
Our teachers are the specialists in their area and have pedagogical education and qualifications. Many of them studied in Germany, UK, Japan and other countries. Some of our teachers also taught English in United Kingdom, Japan and United Arab Emirates.
2.Did IELTS teachers at Direct English pass IELTS exams themselves?
Yes, all our IELTS teachers passed their exams themselves and have 7.5 and 8 bands. They also studied at the British Council and have been certified by the British Council to teach IELTS to students.
3.Do teachers from USA or UK teach at Direct English?
No, they don’t. Our experience shows that local teachers best know our students’ mentality, the way they think and learn. That’s why students taught by local teachers demonstrate much better results.
4.Do students teach at Direct English?
Short answer is ‘NO’. We don’t recruit recent graduates from our universities. Only teachers with at least 2-3 years of teaching experience and right qualifications teach our students at Direct English. Our teachers are the people who specialize in teaching and learning and all of them love their jobs and students.
Materials
1.What kind of materials do you use to teach us English?
We use Headway 4th edition together with its computer software iTools to teach general English. For students who need extra academic support we use a lot of other extra materials from the Internet too.
2.Do we watch videos during the lessons?
Yes, every 3d or 4th lesson you will watch 5-10-minute video specially created for your level of English. While watching the video your teacher will give a worksheet. So you will watch and complete some tasks at the same time. Before and after watching you will discuss the ideas in the video.
Students
1.How many students are there in each group?
There are only 10 students in each group. As soon as the group becomes full, we don’t accept any new students.
2.What is age of the students?
The age of our students is mostly between 15 and 25.
3.What is the nationality of the students?
Mostly Uzbeks study at our language centre. However, we also have a small community of Russian speaking students.
4.Do Uzbek and Russian speaking students study together or separately?
They study together except in Beginner groups. We always try to have diversity among our students. Each student brings new ideas, cultures and traditions with him/herself makes discussion during the lessons much more interesting.
Payment
1.How can I pay for the course?
You can make your payment at Orient Finance Bank or any other bank near your house.
2.Can I pay by plastic card or bank transfer?
Of course you can pay using such methods. That’s why we receive payments via our banks. If you wish to pay via bank transfer, please let us know. We will give a special contract form.
3.When should I pay for the course?
You should make your payment at the beginning of each month.
4.What should I do if I have to pay a little bit later?
If you are not able to make your payment in time, you must visit our office and inform as soon as possible.
5.What will happen if I don’t inform?
You will not be allowed to attend the course until you make your payment. Therefore, please inform the office as soon as possible.
Language
1.What language should we use during the lessons?
You should only use English during the lessons.
2.Do teachers speak in English during the lessons?
Yes, all our teachers speak English during the lessons.
3.Can teachers explain me in Uzbek or Russian if I don’t understand something?
Yes, sometimes your teacher will use Uzbek or Russian to explain you something you can’t understand in English.
Discipline
1.What should I do if I know that I can’t come to the next lesson?
You must call the office and inform. The office telephone number is (95) 194 6771.
2.What should I do if I missed a lesson?
Please call your friends and ask what the homework is because you must come to the next lesson with your homework prepared.
3.What happens if I miss more than one lesson?
We call your parents and inform them about your absenteeism. If you continue missing a lot of lessons, you will not be able to continue your studies at Direct English language centre.
4.Can I answer my mobile phone when my parents call me during the lesson?
Yes, you can. But please be reminded that if your parents call you too many times during the lessons, we will call them ourselves and ask them not to bother you.
However, during in-class tests you can’t answer your phone at all.
Tests
1.How many tests do we write during the course?
In Beginner course you will have 14 Unit tests which you will write at home, 4 Stop & Checks, 3 Progress tests and 1 Final test which you will write in the class.
In Elementary course you will have 12 Unit tests which you will write at home, 3 Stop & Checks, 2 Progress tests and 1 Final test which you will write in the class.
In Pre-Intermediate course you will have 12 Unit tests which you will write at home, 3 Stop & Checks, 2 Progress tests and 1 Final test which you will write in the class.
In Intermediate course you will have 12 Unit tests which you will write at home, 3 Stop & Checks, 2 Progress tests and 1 Final test which you will write in the class.
In Upper-Intermediate course you will have 12 Unit tests which you will write at home, 4 Stop & Checks, 2 Progress tests and 1 Final test which you will write in the class.
2.How much should we score from each test?
You should score at least 75 % from each unit test, 70 % from each Stop & Check, Progress Test and 75 % from Final Test in order to continue your studies.
If you get less than 70 % from your any of your tests, please ask your teacher for extra help. He/she will always be happy to prepare some extra materials for you.
But if you get poor test results you miss a lot of lessons, arrive late or ignore your homework, then we will call your parents and inform. Such students usually can’t continue their studies at Direct English.
3.Do we write tests at home or in the class?
You will write all your Unit tests at home and Stop & Check and Progress Tests in the classroom at Direct English.
4.Do we have any time limit when we write tests in the classroom?
Yes, you normally have 40-50 minutes.
5.What can’t we do during the tests?
During the test you can’t use your mobile phones, ask your friends and teacher for any help like the translation of the words.
6.What can we do during the tests?
If you need any help, you can raise your hands and explain your problem. If you need a new pencil or pen or eraser, please ask your teacher in whisper.
7.Do you also show the results of the tests to our parents?
If you systematically get less than 70 % from your tests, we will call and inform your parents about your test results.
8.When are the results of our tests announced to us?
Results of the Unit test are announced within 3-4 days and the results of your Stop & Check and Progress Tests are announced within 4-5 days.
Expulsion
1.When do you expel a student from Direct English language centre?
We expel a student who …
-disrespects our office administrator, teachers & students
-misses a lot of lessons
-comes late
-ignores the homework
-gets poor test results and
-delays payment.
Knowledge
2.What will we learn to do during the course?
During the course you will learn how to use grammar correctly, speak well, listen effectively, read and learn new vocabulary. You will also develop test taking and writing skills.
3.Do you also prepare students for national universities?
We don’t prepare students for any specific university exams but students taking our courses comfortably pass many types of entrance exams because as mentioned above we teach all skills (e.g. grammar, speaking, listening, reading, vocabulary and test taking).
Guarantee
1.Do you give any guarantees?
No, we don’t give any guarantee because it is impossible. However, 95 % of the students, who study at Direct English very well, usually pass all their exams. They often work hard, attend all the lessons and do their homework. That’s why they don’t need our guarantee.

Holidays
1.Do you give students winter and/or summer holidays?
Yes, we do. Winter holidays usually start in the end of December and finish at the beginning of January. Summer holidays start at the beginning of August and finish in the middle of the same month.
2.How long do winter and summer holidays continue?
They usually continue for two weeks.
Parties
1.Do you have any parties for students at Direct English?
Yes, we usually celebrate New Year together with our students before the start of the winter holidays.
